Understanding Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese relaxation technique in which a trained practitioner places their hands lightly on or near the body, intended to promote relaxation and reduce stress. Sessions are calm, non-invasive, and many participants find them supportive as part of a broader treatment approach.

Research on Reiki is mixed. NIH's National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health notes that Reiki hasn't been clearly shown to be effective for any specific health-related purpose, and that much of the existing research has been inconsistent or of limited quality. That said, a more recent systematic review of randomized, placebo-controlled trials found Reiki showed a greater therapeutic effect than placebo for some mental health symptoms, with stronger evidence specifically for clinically relevant stress and depression.

We offer Reiki as a complementary addition to your clinical treatment plan, not as a substitute for therapy or medication management.

Located in Phoenixville, we offer Reiki sessions to individuals throughout Chester County and the greater Philadelphia region.

How Reiki Fits Into Your Treatment

Reiki sessions are offered alongside — not instead of — your primary clinical care, such as individual therapy, group therapy, and medication management. It's one part of our whole-person approach to treatment.
